Reconstruction of radio and TV transmitting centers on the basis of wide-band antennas of “Gomel Design Bureau “Luch”

The intensive growth  of TV and OHS PM broadcasting has created in many large settlements the situation , when the towers of radio and TV centers have become almost filled with antennas, and the growth of quantity of channels for radio broadcasting at 65,9…74,0 and 100..108 MHz and TV broadcasting at I-V ranges is going on.

The towers of radio broadcasting transmitting centers (RBTC) ,as a rule, have  a suitable geographical location relatively to the zone of necessary reception, consumers’ antennas of TV networks have the required direction, construction of new bearings in cities is impossible, and the  usage of areas on the roofs of high buildings by many reasons is problematic. All these factors determine the necessity of complete reconstruction of present TV towers. Additional factors of the necessity if reconstruction are the following: TV antennas of VHF bands, for  the dislocation of which towers were built,  have reached the end of their service life. It is impossible to repair them and to carry out preventive measures.

New TV and antennas of OHS and PM ranges were installed on the towers when the resolutions and the necessary material resources appeared for the opening of channels, by separate projects for every antenna, and, as a rule, for capacity of one channel.

At present the situation is the following: TV towers are filled with antennas, but their dislocation is irrational, and the technical characteristics of antennas are not always fit to the maximum possible load by the quantity of channels, as in TV as in OHS and PM ranges.

New antennas for the reconstruction of (RBTC) must be developed  in future  at possible maximum capacity and maximum quantity of channels subject to frequency planning in a specific region.

It is known that more complete fulfillment of the task is increasing  the number of programs of TV and radio broadcasting during modernization of corresponding RBTC and creation of new ones can be done by means of wide-band transmitting antennas.

In Table 1 you can find the list and characteristics of wide-band transmitting antennas, produced and developed by “Gomel Design Bureau “Luch”. These antennas work at any frequency channel within the selected range of working frequencies, without extra rearrangement. It’s possible to install these antennas with DD different from circular.

1 Antenna of panel type on the basis of zigzag radiators.

Installed on the bearings with cross-section from 2,5×2,5 to 4x4m

Working frequencies range 48.5-84MHz

2 Turnstile  zigzag antenna with upper setting

Self-bearing or installed next to the bearing pipe.

Working frequency range 48.5-7 MHz.

3 Antenna of panel type on the basis of zigzag or zigzag periodical radiators.

Installed on the bearings with cross-section 1,75×1,75 or 2,5x 2,5 m

Working frequency range 66-108 MHz

4 Turnstile zigzag antenna with upper setting.

Self-bearing or installed next to the bearing pipe.

Working frequency range 66-108MHz.

5 Antenna of panel type on the basis of zigzag or zigzag periodical radiators.

Installed on the bearings with cross-section 1,75×1,75 m.

Working frequency range 174-254 MHz.

6 Turnstile zigzag antenna with upper setting.

Self-bearing or installed next to the bearing pipe.

Working frequency range 174- 230 MHz.

7 Antenna of panel type on the basis of wide-band vibrator radiators.

Panels are installed at  the prism with cross-section up to 500x500mm, on the pipe 720 mm in diameter or in “flags” on the bands of the bearings with cross-section up to 4×4 m.

Working frequency range 470-860 MHz.

8 Turnstile antenna “Corona” on the basis of triangle half-wave vibrators.

With upper installation or installation next to the bearing band at brackets.

Working frequency range 470-860MHz.

9 Turnstile  zigzag antenna.

With upper installation or installation next to the bearing band at brackets.

Working frequency range 470-702 MHz, 574-860MHz.

 

Possible variants of installation of antennas mentioned in table 1 on the bearing of RBTC, and variants of alignment of antennas of different ranges are shown below.
